What’s up ladies and gentlemen? This is David Benjamin from Greenliving Tribe and Healthy Wild Free.
Today, I am reviewing Sakara’s Night Service Supplement.
If you have followed my channel or read my blog for any length of time, you know I do a lot of supplement reviews. My cabinets are overflowing—I have supplements on the counter, in the bathroom, and probably stashed in every other room of my house. But of all the categories I test, sleep supplements are the ones I scrutinize the most.
Why? Because for years, I struggled with sleep. And I don’t mean “I tossed and turned for 20 minutes.” I mean I struggled over and over again to the point where I almost wrote a book on sleep health just to document my experiments.
I have tried everything. I’ve experimented with circadian lighting (switching to incandescent bulbs), sleep temperatures, EMF mitigation, grounding sheets, and specialized pillows. I have tested dozens of sleep formulas. Because of this, I have a very strong understanding of what makes a sleep formula work—and what makes it flop.
In this review, I’m going to break down Sakara Night Service. I will analyze the ingredient list, share my personal experience after testing it for a week, and tell you whether it’s worth your money—or if you should look at the two other alternatives that I personally rank higher.
The Ingredient Breakdown: A “Clean” Formula?
Before I tell you how it felt, let’s look at what is actually in the bottle. Sakara markets this as a “clean” supplement, and looking at the label, I have to agree that the quality is there. They didn’t cut corners on the forms of vitamins and herbs they used.
Here is the deep dive into the Sakara Night Service formula:
1. Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate
The first ingredient is magnesium bisglycinate. This is a massive “green flag” for me.
Many cheap supplements use Magnesium Oxide or Magnesium Citrate. Those are cheaper forms that are not well absorbed and can often cause digestive issues (or act as a laxative). Magnesium Bisglycinate is widely considered the “sleep form” of magnesium. It is highly bioavailable and has a calming effect on the nervous system. It’s the gold standard for relaxation.
2. Tart Cherry Extract (Nordic Cherry)
There are 500mg of whole fruit Tart Cherry extract. Why is this here?
Tart cherries and pistachios are two of the few food sources that contain naturally occurring melatonin. Instead of hitting your brain with synthetic melatonin (which can sometimes mess with your body’s natural production), Sakara is using a food-based approach to nudge your melatonin levels up naturally. This is a smart, gentle way to signal to the body that it’s time to sleep.
3. GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid)
GABA is the neurotransmitter that acts as the “brakes” for your brain. At one point in my life, my sleep issues were driven by low GABA levels. If your brain feels “overactive” or “buzzy” when you lay down, it’s often because your excitatory neurotransmitters are firing and you don’t have enough GABA to calm them down.
4. The Adaptogen Blend (Ashwagandha, Holy Basil, Rhodiola)
The formula includes a blend of adaptogens:
- Ashwagandha (Stem, Leaf, and Root): This is excellent for lowering cortisol. High cortisol at night is a common reason people wake up at 3 AM. Ashwagandha helps sedate the stress response.
- Holy Basil & Rhodiola: Both help the body manage stress and balance hormones.
5. Reishi Mushroom (Fruiting Body)
I was very happy to see that they use the fruiting body extract, not the mycelial mass. The fruiting body is the actual mushroom (the part that grows above ground) and contains the highest concentration of medicinal compounds (beta-glucans). Mycelium is essentially the root system, often grown on grain, which is cheaper and less potent. Sakara paid for quality here.
The One “Red Flag” Ingredient: Maca Root
There is one ingredient in this formula that I am not a fan of for sleep: Maca Root Extract.
Maca is an incredible herb. I take it myself—but I take it before the gym. For my biology, Maca is energizing. It supports sex hormones and provides a boost of vitality. In my opinion, putting an energizing, libido-boosting adaptogen into a sleep formula is a confusing choice. While adaptogens are supposed to “balance” you, for many people, Maca is just too stimulating to be taken right before bed.

My Experience: Did Sakara Night Service Work?
I took Sakara Night Service for about a week to give it a fair trial.
The Results:
- 5 Nights: I slept better than usual.
- 1 Night: It didn’t seem to work at all.
- 1 Night: About average.
So, roughly 70% of the time, it helped. The glass bottle is beautiful, the purple pills (colored naturally with carrot concentrate) are aesthetically pleasing, and the ingredients are undeniably high quality.
However, I suspect the Maca root prevented me from getting that “knockout” deep sleep I sometimes need. It’s a very solid product—better than 80% of the generic stuff on the market—but it didn’t dethrone my top two favorites.
The Top Contenders: Why I Prefer Qualia & Healthycell
While Sakara is good, there are two other supplements that have worked significantly better for me during the most stressful periods of my life.
1. The Winner: Qualia Night
Qualia Night is, hands down, the highest-quality sleep supplement I have ever taken.
The “Detroit” Test:
Years ago, I was living in Detroit, doing an internship at an organic farm. I was staying in a very rough area. Quite literally every single night, like clockwork, I heard gunshots.
My nervous system was hijacked. I was in a constant state of “fight or flight.” I tried Valerian root, Kava, and every heavy sedative I could find, but I couldn’t turn my brain off. I was terrified and alert.
Qualia Night was the only thing that worked. It calmed my nervous system enough to allow me to sleep through the noise and stress.
Why I Trust It:
The company behind it (Neurohacker Collective) does something rare: they run beta tests with 100 people before releasing a product. If 80% of those people don’t report positive results, they don’t launch it. They go back to the drawing board. That means when you buy it, there is a statistically high chance (80%+) that it will work for you.
2. The Runner-Up: Healthycell REM Sleep
Healthycell is my second favorite, but for different reasons.
The Technology:
They use a “MicroGel” technology (little gel packs) instead of pills. This allows for incredibly high absorption.
The Pros:
- Vivid Dreams: For whatever reason, when I take this, my dream recall and dream clarity go through the roof. It’s a very cool side effect if you enjoy dreaming.
- Potency: It works fast.
The “Con” (That is actually a Pro):
It is strong. One night, I took it a bit too early before I was actually in bed. I got so drowsy that I literally walked into a wall and bruised my forehead. It hits you hard. If you need something to physically force your eyes shut, this is the one. However, I sometimes felt a little groggy if I didn’t time it right, which is why Qualia sits at #1 for me (Qualia feels more like “restoration,” whereas Healthycell feels like “sedation”).
Final Verdict
Sakara Night Service is a solid, clean sleep aid.
If you are already in the Sakara ecosystem, or if you want a very gentle, food-based formula (tart cherry + magnesium) and you don’t mind the Maca, it is a great choice. It is a high-end product with high-end ingredients like Reishi fruiting body. I would rate it as the 3rd best option I’ve tried.
However, if you have serious sleep issues—if your nervous system is fried, or you just cannot shut your brain off—I would recommend starting with Qualia Night or Healthycell.
