We all get foul smelling shoes from time to time. Especially when we sweat, go to the gym and let those toxins out! The feet have some of the most pores on the body and they expel a lot of nasty smelling sweat. That is why our shoes get quite the riff every once in a while. The last thing you want to do however is to put chemicals in your shoes to mask the smell.

If you’re spraying something like Lysol in your shoes or any other chemical spray you’ll want to avoid that. This is because your shoes have some of the largest pores on your body and they will soak these chemicals up into your skin and ultimately into your bloodstream, which you do not want. Then your immune system and body has to deal with these foreign invaders, stealing valuable resources from the rest of the body to fight real threats.

3 Ways To Deodorize Your Stinky Shoes Without Chemicals

  1. Use Old Tea Bags!

Believe it or not you can take old tea bags and put them in your shoes and let them sit for a day or two and these dried herb leaves will soak up some of the odor from the shoes. It’s the easiest ways to deodorize that stinky shoe smell but you do have to wait a day or two which is a bit if a downside. If you save several tea bags and pack each shoe with them, it will pull the smell out faster. So drink a bunch of tea this week and have your kicks smelling fresh!

2. Use Baking Soda

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and if you simply pour baking soda in your shoes and spread it around over the soul and into the shoe itself and let that baking soda sit for about 24 hours this will deodorize the shoe and remove much of the bad scent.

3. Orange Peels work too!

Orange peels make great shoe deodorizers. Simply take the orange peels and place them in your shoes overnight, they’ll help to remove the scent in your shoes and even lift a little bit of an orange/citrus scent. Lemon, lime and tangerine peels work also. Any citrus fruit peel will help to remove odor from shoes.

These are three quick and easy ways to deodorize nasty shoe smells. You can also take activated charcoal bags and put them in your shoes and overnight these will help to pull a lot of the nasty smell out as well.
