At 91 Years Old He Still Skateboards and Has Better Balance Than Some 40 Year Old’s – His 3 Longevity Secrets Revealed

At 91, Lloyd Kahn is still skateboarding.

He also hikes, swims, paddleboards, rides his bike, gardens, builds things and explores the world around him.

And perhaps the most interesting part isn’t that he does all of this at 91.

It’s why he does it.

Kahn isn’t obsessed with reversing aging, counting every step or following the latest biohacking trend. In fact, his philosophy is remarkably simple: stay interested, stay active and keep experiencing life.

Here are three lessons we can take from him.

1. Make movement fun

Kahn doesn’t seem to exercise simply because he’s supposed to.

He skateboards because he loves skateboarding. He bikes because he enjoys getting outside. He hikes, swims and paddleboards because these activities give him something to look forward to.

He has said that the best kind of exercise is exercise that includes adventure.

That’s an important distinction.

Instead of forcing yourself onto a treadmill for 45 minutes because you think you should exercise, find movement you actually enjoy. Dance. Hike. Play tennis. Ride a bike. Swim. Garden. Walk somewhere you’ve never been.

The best exercise may be the exercise you actually want to keep doing for decades.

2. Choose adventure over routine

Kahn’s approach to movement isn’t just about burning calories. It’s about seeing something new.

A bike ride becomes an opportunity to explore. A hike becomes a chance to see the forest. A paddleboard trip becomes an adventure.

He has described wanting his workouts to take him somewhere—to see trees, forests, deer and the ocean rather than simply exercising in place.

That mindset may be just as important as the physical activity itself.

Because adventure gives you a reason to move.

And when movement is connected to discovery, it becomes part of living—not a chore you have to check off your list.

3. Stay curious

Perhaps Kahn’s most remarkable trait isn’t his physical ability.

It’s his curiosity.

At an age when many people might become increasingly set in their routines, Kahn continues to be fascinated by the world. New restaurants, music, cities, books, people, technology—even things as simple as a garden or a new shop can capture his attention.

He has described curiosity as simply being interested in things.

And that may be one of his greatest longevity lessons.

Don’t stop being interested.

Learn something new. Visit somewhere you’ve never been. Talk to someone younger than you. Try a new hobby. Read about something you know nothing about.

You don’t have to live like Lloyd Kahn to learn from Lloyd Kahn.

At 91, he’s showing us that longevity isn’t necessarily about trying to make life smaller, safer and more predictable.

Maybe it’s the opposite.

Keep moving. Keep exploring. Keep wondering what’s around the next corner.

Because the goal isn’t simply to live longer.

It’s to remain interested in being alive.
