How to Make “Frozen Can” Lanterns for Your Outdoor Living Space

The process, described by the YouTube channel Hometalk, which has 800,000 subscribers on the network, is simple and fun to do.

It starts off with two frozen cans, as seen in the video below.

The trick is to take off the labels before filling them with water and placing them in the freezer.

From there, you can use a hammer and a nail, or a power drill like this one if you prefer, to punch or drill holes in your frozen cans.

The ice will allow more steadiness for your to work on your signature outdoor art project.

Putting the Project Into Practice

From there, you simply need to follow the instructions on the video below.

A little non-toxic, plant-based paint will go a long way toward making these lanterns the best they can be. They don’t officially mention this in the video, but you will also need a set of tea lights like these ones to place inside of your finished project before hanging the cans up outside.

The end result is a mosaic of light emanating from a beautiful and rustic DIY project that looks like the type of décor you’d find on a rustic modern homestead.
