Thanksgiving is always an exciting and enjoyable time of year for most people, but the stress of cooking, decorating, planning, inviting people and other activities oftentimes takes its toll.
These celebrations of abundance, family, friends and community can often take surprising turns, as shown in one viral TikTok video that has led to much concern over a young woman who quickly became disheartened after things didn’t quite turn out the way she had hoped.
According to an article from Yahoo News, the woman cooked lots food for her guests and decorated her house waiting anxiously for guests to arrive.
There was just one problem with her evening — none of her guests showed up, or even bothered to text.
“I’m so sad for her,” her boyfriend wrote in a viral TikTok post that can be seen below.
The video of her evening shows a decorated room, food on the table and places set for 11 people.
It was posted by a user named @kidalloy and has been viewed over 15 million times.
The video of the man’s girlfriend includes sad music while panning from the dining room to the kitchen’s island area, where her culinary delights had been waiting for guests.
“She decorated the whole basement and cooked so much food,” her boyfriend said during the evening.
“I keep trying to cheer her up but nothing is working.”

While not every commenter on TikTok believed the video to be 100% authentic, many commenters took the opportunity to offer words of encouragement and support.
Thanksgiving didn’t go the way one woman planned after she cooked lots of food, decorated her house and none of her guests showed up or bothered to text.
“I’m so sad for her,” wrote her boyfriend in a TikTok clip. The viral video by @kidalloy, which has been viewed more than 14 million times, pans round to a decorated room, food on a table and places set for 11 people.
In the video, a woman is seen looking melancholy and checking her phone. Text over the video reads: “My girlfriend was so excited for her first Friendsgiving. But no one showed up.
“She decorated the whole basement and cooked so much food. I keep trying to cheer her up but nothing is working.”
Social media users offered to support with the woman in the comments section.
“Where do I apply to be her friend?!” asked one commenter.
Others told her those who didn’t show were wrong in their actions.
“No call, no show? Ma’am those ain’t your friends.”
Another shared a comment on the issue saying they stopped hosting similar events.
“I remember hosting Friendsgiving and Friendsmas. I stopped because I realized that the only one putting in effort was myself in everything.”
In a follow-up TikTok post that has been liked over 328,000 times, Christian shared an update on the situation.
It seems as if the couple had a good time regardless of the woman’s friends not showing up, and made the most of their night.
While this story is far from perfect, it does have a happy ending, as he details in his follow-up TikTok post (there is a surprise twist that you have to hear to believe…What a great boyfriend!).
