Robin Williams was one of the most successful and loved actors and comedians of all-time.

He captivated audiences in countless ways, chief among them the many different characters he played during his movie, TV show and stand-up acts.

Among them were ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ the titular character of the classic comedy movie who dressed up like a woman to see his kids after a divorce, ‘Mork’ from ‘Mork and Mindy,’ during which Williams played an alien who comes to Earth from the planet Ork, and many, many others.

Williams had a big impact on society, but the impact on his own family is a story that is still being told.

Robin Williams’ son Zak is now a mental health advocate.

Zak wrote a touching tribute to his father tweeting his love and admiration.

“The joy and inspiration you brought to the world carries on in your legacy and in your family, friends, and fans you so loved. You lived to bring laughter and to help others. I will be celebrating your memory today. Love you forever.”

Robin Williams died of what was believed to be a suicide in 2014 at age 63.

Williams was diagnosed with diffuse Lewy body dementia, a neurodegenerative disorder, after his death.

Zak published the tweet last August on the anniversary of his death.

Aside from being a CEO, Zak is also a family man.

His wife Olivia June has been the subject of recent Instagram posts, as has daughter Zola, who was born on June 10 of last year and will be celebrating her first birthday soon.

Robin’s daughter Zelda also has been active in social media, previously releasing a tribute to her dad as well.

She says she has a ‘dark sense of humor,’ as evidenced by her latest post, which she said she got from her father.

The Williams Family is All Coping With His Death in Different Ways

Williams’ widow Susan Williams is also coping with Robin’s death in her own unique way.

Much like Zak, Susan is focusing on mental health in light of the problems that the superstar comedian faced.

In 2016, she wrote an essay in the medical journal Neurology titled “The Terrorist Inside My Husband’s Brain,” which can be read here.

Her essay details Robin’s struggles as they attempted to find a diagnosis prior to his death.

“My husband was trapped in the twisted architecture of his neurons and no matter what I did I could not pull him out,” she wrote.

She says that she will “never know the true depth of his suffering,” or how hard he was fighting.

But much like her son and daughter, Susan is doing her best to help others, and to carry on Robin’s legacy of making people happy and healthy in his own way.

“I have since learned that people with LBD who are highly intelligent may appear to be okay for longer initially, but then, it is as though the dam suddenly breaks and they cannot hold it back anymore,” Susan Williams wrote.

“In Robin’s case, on top of being a genius, he was a [Juilliard]-trained actor. I will never know the true depth of his suffering, nor just how hard he was fighting. But from where I stood, I saw the bravest man in the world playing the hardest role of his life.”
